CRS Cutoff Score Trend — All-Program & CEC (2022–2025)

Approximate CRS scores per period. Bar height represents minimum CRS cutoff. Source: IRCC draw results.

📊

CEC draw cutoffs rose significantly in 2025 (515–542) compared to all-program draws (487–491). Category-based draws — especially French-language — maintained lower cutoffs, giving candidates below 500 a better pathway. Learn how to improve your CRS score →

Types of Express Entry Draws — Explained

Not all Express Entry draws are the same. Since 2023, IRCC issues several types of draws with different CRS cutoffs and eligibility criteria.

🔴 All-Program Draws

Open to all Express Entry candidates (FSW, CEC, FST). These typically have cutoffs between 470–530 in recent years. IRCC paused all-program draws in 2023–2024, favouring category-based draws.

🔵 CEC-Specific Draws

Only for Canadian Experience Class candidates. CEC draws became dominant in 2024–2025, with cutoffs ranging 515–542. They reflect strong demand for workers already in Canada.

🟣 PNP Draws

For candidates with a provincial nomination. PNP draws have very high cutoffs (700–800+) because nominees automatically receive +600 CRS points on top of their base score.

🟠 French-Language Draws

For candidates with strong French proficiency (CLB 7+). These draws have the lowest CRS cutoffs — often 370–420 — making them an excellent pathway for French speakers with lower overall CRS scores.

🟢 STEM Occupation Draws

Targeting candidates in STEM occupations (NOC codes in science, technology, engineering, math). Cutoffs typically fall between 470–510.

🔴 Healthcare & Social Services Draws

For candidates working in healthcare, medicine, and social service occupations. Cutoffs have ranged from 436–476 in 2025.

💡

If you qualify for a category (French, STEM, healthcare), your chances of receiving an ITA are much higher — even with a CRS score below 500. Calculate your CRS score first →

CRS Cutoff Score Analysis — Key Trends 2024–2026

1. No More All-Program Draws (2023–2025)

IRCC moved away from general all-program draws in 2023. Most draws in 2024 and 2025 were CEC-specific or category-based. This means candidates without Canadian experience rely heavily on categories like French or STEM to receive an ITA.

2. CEC Cutoffs Rose Sharply in 2025

CEC draw cutoffs climbed from ~490 in late 2022 to 527–542 by early 2025. This reflects the high volume of CEC-eligible candidates with strong profiles in Canada's labour market.

3. French Draws Remain Most Accessible

French-language draws consistently had the lowest cutoffs in 2025 (399–416). If you have CLB 7+ in French, this is the most accessible route to an ITA regardless of your overall CRS score.

4. Job Offer Points Removed (March 2025)

In March 2025, IRCC removed CRS points for arranged employment (job offers). This reduced scores by 50 or 200 points for candidates with a job offer. CEC draw cutoffs subsequently dropped slightly in response.

5. December 2025 — Bulk Draws to Meet Targets

IRCC issued very large draws in December 2025 (5,000–6,000 ITAs per draw) to meet its 2026 admissions targets. This drove CEC cutoffs to the year's lowest (515) and French cutoffs below 400.

⚠️

CRS cutoffs change with every draw. A score that is too low today may be competitive after a few draws. Keep your profile updated and work on improving your CRS score in the meantime.

How the Express Entry CRS Cutoff Works

Understanding what the CRS cutoff actually means helps you predict your chances of getting an ITA.

The Draw Process

  1. IRCC decides how many ITAs to issue and which program/category to draw from
  2. All eligible profiles in the pool are ranked by CRS score (highest first)
  3. IRCC sends ITAs to the top-ranked candidates until the ITA quota is reached
  4. The CRS score of the last candidate to receive an ITA becomes the "cutoff"

The Tie-Breaking Rule

If two candidates share the same CRS score at the cutoff point, IRCC uses the profile submission date as a tiebreaker. The candidate who created or last updated their profile earlier (before the tie-break timestamp) receives the ITA.

⚠️

Do not update your Express Entry profile unnecessarily. Updating resets your tie-break date to the current timestamp, which puts you behind candidates who submitted earlier at the same score.

60 Days to Apply After ITA

Once you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete PR application including all documents, biometrics, and fees. Missing this deadline means your ITA expires.

Use our CRS Score Calculator to calculate your current score, then compare it against the latest cutoffs above to estimate your chances of receiving an ITA.

CRS Cutoff Scores — Frequently Asked Questions

The latest Express Entry draw (#411) was held on April 15, 2026. It was a French-Language proficiency draw with a CRS cutoff of 419 and 4,000 ITAs issued. The most recent all-program draw cutoffs ranged from 487–491. Verify on the official IRCC page →
The lowest ever Express Entry CRS cutoff was 75 points during a CEC draw in February 2021, when IRCC was rapidly clearing the backlog of applications during COVID-19. For all-program draws, the lowest cutoff was 413 in September 2021. These extreme lows are unlikely to recur under normal circumstances.
IRCC typically holds draws every 1–2 weeks. In 2025, the pace increased significantly — sometimes multiple draws per week in December 2025 when IRCC was meeting annual targets. Draw frequency depends on IRCC's admission targets, pool size, and processing capacity. There is no guaranteed schedule.
Since May 2023, IRCC uses category-based draws targeting specific occupations and profiles: French-language proficiency, STEM occupations, healthcare and social services, trades, transport, and agriculture. These draws often have lower CRS cutoffs than all-program draws. You must meet both the program eligibility and the category criteria to be considered in a category draw.
PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) draws have very high cutoffs because provincial nominees receive an automatic +600 CRS points bonus. A candidate with a base score of 150 becomes 750 after a provincial nomination. The 700+ cutoff in PNP draws simply reflects this bonus. The actual base CRS scores of those invited are much lower. Use our PNP CRS Calculator to see your score with a nomination.
If your CRS score is 1 point below the draw cutoff, you simply remain in the pool and wait for the next draw. Your profile stays active for 12 months. Cutoffs fluctuate with every draw — a score that misses one draw's cutoff may qualify in the next. You can also actively improve your CRS score by retaking language tests, gaining more work experience, or pursuing a provincial nomination.
