The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) is the province's official immigration program, offering several pathways aligned with Express Entry.

How BC PNP Affects Your CRS Score

When you receive a BC PNP nomination, IRCC adds 600 points to your Express Entry CRS score. Since all-program draw cutoffs are typically 470–525, even a base CRS score of 350–400 becomes 950–1,000+ — well above any cutoff — after a nomination.

Base CRS ScoreAfter BC PNP +600Typical ITA Draw CutoffResult
350950470–525✅ Guaranteed ITA
4001,000470–525✅ Guaranteed ITA
4501,050470–525✅ Guaranteed ITA
5001,100470–525✅ Guaranteed ITA

The key is to first get a BCPNP nomination. Your base CRS score matters for entering the Express Entry pool (minimum ~440 for CEC/FSW), but it becomes nearly irrelevant once you receive the +600 nomination.

Frequently Asked Questions – BC CRS Calculator

A BCPNP nomination adds exactly 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile. Since all-program draw cutoffs typically range from 470–525, even a base score of 350 becomes 950+ — virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) at the next regular or category-based draw.
The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-tracked immigration stream for workers in 29 in-demand technology occupations. Eligible NOC codes include 20012 (computer and information systems managers), 21211 (data scientists), 21220 (cybersecurity specialists), 21230 (computer systems developers), 21232 (software developers), 21234 (web developers), and others. See the full list at welcomebc.ca Tech Pilot page.
For most BCPNP streams, you need a BC employer job offer, which generally means working in BC. However, for the BC PNP Tech Pilot, some candidates outside BC can apply if they work remotely for a BC-based tech employer. Always verify current requirements at welcomebc.ca as rules change frequently.
BCPNP uses its own registration score (separate from CRS) to invite candidates in draws. This BC score is based on your Express Entry CRS score plus BC-specific factors like the seniority of your BC job offer and your NOC skill level. Once you receive a BCPNP invitation to apply and submit a complete application, and upon nomination, you then receive +600 CRS points from IRCC.
After BCPNP nomination, IRCC typically issues an ITA within 1–2 weeks since your CRS score (now 600+ your base) exceeds any draw cutoff. After submitting a complete Express Entry application, IRCC processing takes approximately 6 months for most BC PNP applicants. Total timeline from BCPNP application to Canada PR is typically 12–18 months.
Yes. The International Graduate stream is specifically designed for graduates of BC post-secondary institutions who have a qualifying BC job offer. You must have a valid PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) and a job offer in a NOC TEER 0/1/2/3 occupation. This stream is popular among UBC, SFU, and BCIT graduates who remain in BC after graduation.
Language requirements vary by BCPNP stream and underlying Express Entry stream. For the Skilled Worker stream via CEC, the minimum is CLB 7 (IELTS 6.0). For FSW pathways, CLB 7 is also the minimum. However, scoring higher (CLB 9+ / IELTS 7.0+) significantly boosts your base CRS score, helping you get noticed in BCPNP draws which consider your Express Entry CRS score.
